Attendance Office Procedures
ROCKWALL-HEATH ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES
IF YOUR STUDENT IS ABSENT, notification must be made IN WRITING within FIVE DAYSof the absence.
PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to excuse an absence based on a phone call.
PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR NOTIFICATION ONE OF THREE WAYS:
- Skyward Family Access note (best way): Skyward Family Access Instructions (click here)
- A handwritten note signed by parent or guardian
- Email Attendance Coordinators at rhhs.attendance@rockwallisd.org
GUIDELINES FOR STUDENT SIGN OUT
PARENT AUTHORIZATION FOR STUDENT TO LEAVE CAMPUS UNACCOMPANIED OR MEETING PARENT OUTSIDE BUILDING:
- An absence request provided by the parent through Skyward Family Access (click here for instructions) must be submitted to the Attendance Office in advance of the absence, no later than two hours prior to the student’s need to leave campus.
- A note is required to be submitted for legal documentation..
- This also provides time to locate your student.
PARENT SIGNING STUDENT OUT UPON ARRIVAL AT CAMPUS:
- Parents will not be allowed to enter the campus. An absence request through Skyward Family Access(click here for instructions) must be submitted to release a student.
Keep in mind that your student may be at the GBCCA campus and these requirements will assist in the communication between the two campuses and provide proper documentation to release the students on either campus.
If your student is in athletics last period, please contact us before 2:45 pm. Often they are outside and we may not be able to locate them.
Sign outs will not be permitted after 3:30 p.m..
STUDENT 18 YEARS OLD OR AN EMANCIPATED MINOR:
- The student may produce a note on his or her own behalf.
- Documentation regarding the reason for the absence will be required.
All campuses in Rockwall ISD are closed campuses.
Students are not allowed to leave during lunch without a parent.
OTHER IMPORTANT PROCEDURES AND NOTES:
- Please send original doctor note or have doctor’s office fax it to the Attendance Office.
- Our fax # 469-698-2608.
- Anytime your student arrives on campus, they need to sign in at the Attendance Office.
- When your student leaves school with an attendance pass, they need to sign out in the Attendance Office.
- Please encourage your student to see the nurse if they text you that they feel sick.
- Please contact the counselor’s office for homework.
- We do not deliver things to students, nor do we get them out of class to pick something up. There is a cart by the receptionist. You can leave it there and they can pick it up during the passing period.
- Tests, exams & finals – We do not interrupt rooms when students are testing.
In the event of an emergency, parents/guardians should contact their student's Assistant Principal.
